A delegation from the Diploma Engineers Association, Bhilai (DEAB) met with Dr. M. Ravindranath, Executive Director (Medical & Health Services), Bhilai Steel Plant, at JLN Hospital & Research Centre to discuss several significant initiatives aimed at improving healthcare awareness and services for employees, their families, and the wider community.
The delegation was led by Mr. Rajesh Sharma (President, DEAB) and included Mohammad Rafi, Ghanshyam Sahu, Pawan Sahu, Pramod Puri, and Ushakar Choudhry. They submitted a formal proposal covering the following key points:
Introduction of cervical cancer and pneumonia vaccination drives to promote preventive healthcare among women and vulnerable populations.
Establishment of an Early Intervention Centre for children with developmental delays.
Organization of targeted awareness campaigns on cancer prevention and childhood developmental disorders.
Launch of a plastic-free canteen initiative at JLN Hospital to encourage sustainable practices.
Hosting of a voluntary blood donation camp on the occasion of Engineers’ Day (15th September).
The team also proposed the expansion of medical facilities at JLN Hospital, including:
- HPLC testing for early diagnosis of genetic disorders such as thalassemia,
- IVF support services to help couples dealing with infertility, and
- Enhanced dental care facilities, including dental capping.
The delegation also commended Dr. Ravindranath’s outstanding efforts in improving hospital infrastructure, particularly in the areas of neonatal care advancement, COVID-19 preparedness, and community outreach.
Dr. Ravindranath welcomed the suggestions and appreciated the proactive engagement of DEAB in matters concerning employee welfare and public health.
The meeting concluded with a positive commitment to explore and act on the proposals in a phased and feasible manner.
