A strong earthquake hit the eastern Mediterranean today. Tremors have been felt in Egypt, Turkey and Greece. The quake was of the magnitude of six on richter scale.
The epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 58 kilometers, some 127 kilometers northeast of Karpathos. There are no immediate reports of casualties.
Earthquakes in Greece and Turkey are not uncommon due to the fault lines that run through the region.
