Balconagar, 17th June 2025 : Bharat Aluminium Company Limited, India’s iconic aluminium producer and part of Vedanta Aluminium, recently concluded its annual summer camps designed to foster holistic growth, creativity, and skill development among children. Conducted in two phases, the initiative reflects BALCO’s commitment to both employee well-being and community development, reaching out to more than 600 children this year.

Under its CSR education initiative, Project Connect, BALCO organized a two-week summer camp where over 200 students participated from Classes 6 to 12, studying in neighbouring government schools. Project Connect aims to enhance the learning ecosystem in these schools by improving student performance, building teacher capacity, and facilitating career counselling in key academic subjects such as Science, English, Maths, and Accountancy (SEMA). The summer camp provided a blend of educational and creative experiences including calligraphy, drawing, dance, personality development, and self-defence sessions, many led by enthusiastic employee volunteers.

Simultaneously, BALCO hosted its much-anticipated annual week-long summer camp within the BALCO township for employees’ children, with participation from over 400 enthusiastic young learners. The camp is a cherished tradition that reflects BALCO’s commitment to enhancing quality of life in the township. Along with fun and engaging activities, sessions on yoga, good touch–bad touch awareness, and creativity-building exercises were conducted, offering a balance of learning and recreation. Employees and interns also actively participated by conducting sessions and supporting the young learners.

Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO, says, “Children represent the promise of a better tomorrow, and it is our responsibility to nurture that promise with care, opportunity, and inspiration. At BALCO, we view both our township and neighbouring communities as extensions of our shared purpose, to foster environments where every child has access to holistic development.”

Pooja Pal, a 10th grade student from a nearby government school and participant in the Project Connect Summer Camp, sharing her experience in delight, says, “Project Connect has helped me improve my studies throughout the year, and the summer camp added even more value by giving me tips for personality development and self-defence. These sessions made learning enjoyable and boosted my confidence.”

These summer camps serve as a vibrant platform for self-expression, confidence-building, and well-rounded development. By providing inclusive, engaging, and enriching experiences, BALCO continues to nurture the next generation with care, strengthening its bond with employees and the wider community alike.
