Bhilai (IP News). SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s 4-strand Bloom Caster in Steel Melting Shop 2 (SMS 2) that supplies cast blooms for production of rails in Rail & Strl Mill has set a new record of casting highest number of 250 heats in single sequence. Blooms were cast continually from 10th Aug to 21st Aug 2020 from this bloom caster which is called Machine No 5 in SMS 2.
The total tonnage of blooms cast from 250 heats during this period is 29,190 Tonnes.
The previous single sequence record of continuous bloom casting in Bhilai was 217 heats from 10 to 20th March 2018.
