Korba, 8th October : Delhi Public School (DPS), located within the NTPC Korba station, is operating in violation of regulations. DPS Jamnipali has not obtained a fire safety certificate from the authorized government department. CISF has arbitrarily issued the certificate to the school.
NTPC operates the CBSE- affiliated Delhi Public School in Korba district, Chhattisgarh. NTPC Korba management has complete control over the school. Schools are required to obtain a fire safety certificate. The Chhattisgarh government’s authorized departments are the Nagar Sena, Fire and Emergency Services, and the State Disaster Response Force. These departments issue fire safety certificates to buildings under the provisions of these departments.
Meanwhile, DPS Jamnipali (NTPC) has obtained a fire safety certificate Irregularly. DPS, Jamnipali, has been granted a fire safety certificate signed by the Assistant Commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit of NTPC, Korba. This certificate was issued on April 11, 2025, for a period of two years.
CISF does not have the authority to issue such a fire safety certificate to any school. Only the Nagar Sena, Fire and Emergency Services, and State Disaster Response Force under the Government of Chhattisgarh are authorized to issue fire safety certificates.
To obtain a fire safety certificate, an application must be submitted along with the prescribed documents. After reviewing the application/documents, a team from the concerned department inspects the building. A fire safety certificate is then issued, also for a period of one year. Renewal is required every year. The renewal process follows a similar procedure.
NTPC, Korba management arbitrarily granted DPS a fire safety certificate. CISF also acted outside its jurisdiction in issuing the certificate.
