Eastern Coalfields Limited installs 250 kWp solar project

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), an arm of state-own Coal India Limited (CIL) has commissioned a 250 kWp grid connected rooftop solar project.

Ranchi. Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), an arm of state-own Coal India Limited (CIL) has commissioned a 250 kWp grid connected rooftop solar project.

Chairman-cum-Managing Director of ECL Prem Sagar Mishra inaugurated the project installed at the Central Hospital in Sanctoria of West Bengal. The plant can generate 5.037 lakh units of power per annum.

The ECL eyes to set up 1,415 kW of rooftop solar systems at 11 of its premises spread across 26 locations in West Bengal and Jharkhand. The coal miner had floated tender for the same in October last year.

A fully owned subsidiaries of CIL, ECL operates coal mines in Jharkhand and West Bengal. Under the company’s command areas of operations, there are 14 numbers of operating areas with 78 numbers of working mines, 49 Underground mines, 20 opencast mines and 9 mixed mines.
