NTPC Kanti on Monday inaugurated the “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2026” under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The month-long residential programme was formally inaugurated by Shri Sanjib Kumar Suar, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, under the theme “Empowered Girls, Empowered Kanti.”

The programme, scheduled from 26 May to 20 June 2026, has brought together 50 girl students from various villages of Kanti Block, representing 9 different schools. The initiative aims to empower young girls through education, personality development, confidence building, and holistic learning.

During the four-week residential workshop, the participants will receive free education in subjects such as Mathematics, English, Hindi, and Science. Nutritious meals, accommodation, and all necessary learning materials will also be provided free of cost. To ensure the overall development of the students, the programme includes extracurricular activities such as yoga, dance, music, painting, sports, and cultural activities. Computer training sessions will also be conducted to enhance digital literacy among the participants.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Shri Sanjib Kumar Suar, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, said, “NTPC Kanti has always remained committed towards the development and upliftment of the surrounding community. Girl Empowerment Mission is one such significant initiative through which we aim not only to educate girls academically but also to equip them with the confidence and life skills required to become empowered individuals. Over the next four weeks, NTPC Kanti will take complete responsibility for the safety, learning, and overall well-being of all participating girls. I sincerely thank the parents, teachers, and school principals for their support and trust in this initiative.”

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Maheshkumar Suthar, Additional General Manager (Human Resources), NTPC Kanti, said, “This programme will bring transformation not only in the lives of these girls, but also in their families and society as a whole. After 28 days of learning and exposure, these children will return with greater confidence, awareness, and self-belief.”

The programme was also attended by Shri Sanjeet Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Human Resources), along with other senior officials of NTPC Kanti. Delivering the vote of thanks, Shri Sanjeet Kumar expressed gratitude to all participating girls, villagers, parents, teachers, and guests for their presence and support in making the initiative meaningful and impactful.
