Korba, 8 June : DFO Katghora interacts with GEM girls of NTPC Korba NTPC’s flagship CSR initiative, the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) workshop commenced at NTPC Korba on 16 May 2023 marking the presence of 124 girls from various villages unfolding their wings.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Prem Lata Yadav, DFO Katghora elaborated on the significance of self-dependence and on how educating a girl leads to educating a nation. She even recited her life journey to her current esteemed position to encourage the little girls to realize their dreams and aspiration.

The teachers and educators of the GEM girls also encouraged the tiny blossoms to understand the importance of education and wished them great success in their future learning and growth.

The initiative GEM has motivated the girl children to nurture their creativity, sharpen psychological, social, and emotional growth, and make learning a lively, engaging, and impactful experience.

Through this unique strategic CSR initiative, NTPC aims to make every girl aware of essential education, health and self-defence programs and also create a room for the children to showcase their talents and capabilities.

The tailor-made programme has covered basic communication skills in Hindi and English and elementary education in mathematics, hygiene and nutrition, yoga and sports to develop their social skills, with talks on gender diversity issues, and other group activities.

Along the same line, NTPC Korba organized an interaction session with MoEF&CC (Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change) experts for the bright GEM girls.

The enriching and knowledgeable interaction was conducted by esteemed field experts- Dr. Suramya Dolarray Vora, Executive Director Science City, DST, Government of Gujarat, Prof. N. Nandini, Chairperson, Department of Environmental Science, Bangalore University, Dr. Sheo Shankar Rai, Department of Mining Engineering, IIT Dhanbad, ISM and Dr. Vijay Prakash, CGM Environmental Engineering, NTPC Limited.

During the session, the faculty emphasized the sustainability of the environment, afforestation, hygiene, self-development, and empowerment. The session encouraged the little girl children to be self-reliant and educated and empowered them to live with dignity and contribute as equal partners in development in an environment with full opportunities for growth and development.

On this occasion, HOP Korba,  B Ramachandra Rao, GM O&M,  Madhu S., GM Operation,  Lalit Ranjan Mohanty, GM Project Construction,  Anoop Kumar Mishra, GM Ash Dyke Management,  Amber Kumar, Head of HR,  Prabhat Ram and all other senior management were present.
