NTPC Korba observed World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and commitment towards environmental conservation. The celebration was marked by a mass tree plantation drive, a spirited walkathon, and a collective environmental pledge by employees and associates.
The event was spearheaded by Shri Bibhas Ghatak, GM (O&M), NTPC Korba, who emphasized the vital role of sustainability in the operations of India’s leading power producer.
Underlining the theme of this year’s Environment Day, the program aimed to create greater awareness and responsibility among stakeholders for the preservation and restoration of the environment.
The morning began with a walkathon, symbolizing NTPC’s proactive march towards greener practices. Employees participated with great enthusiasm, reflecting their shared commitment to a sustainable future.
This was followed by a tree plantation drive within the plant premises and adjoining green zones. Several saplings of native species were planted to enhance biodiversity and improve the local ecosystem.
In his address, Shri Bibhas Ghatak said, “Environmental sustainability is not just a responsibility but a value deeply ingrained in NTPC’s culture. Through initiatives like today’s, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a cleaner, greener and healthier tomorrow.”
A solemn pledge ceremony concluded the program, wherein participants vowed to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and contribute actively to environmental conservation.
The celebration at NTPC Korba stood as a testament to the organization’s unwavering dedication to green energy, community engagement, and ecological responsibility.
