Along with whole nation, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project. The celebrations commenced with the recitation of “Vande Mataram”, marking the ongoing commemoration of the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song.

On the occasion, Vijay Chand, Executive Director, NTPC Talcher Thermal, hoisted the National Flag and received the salute from CISF personnel. Addressing the gathering, Shri Chand appreciated the remarkable achievements in project construction and the timely completion of project works, which will contribute to ensuring a reliable supply of power in support of the vision of Viksit Bharat.
He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and reaffirmed Talcher Thermal’s commitment to contributing to the nation’s progress and development.
The patriotic spirit of the occasion was reflected in colourful cultural presentations by students of DAV Public School and participants of the Girl Empowerment Mission. The performances added vibrancy to the celebrations and were warmly appreciated by the gathering.
As part of NTPC Talcher Thermal’s commitment to community development and social responsibility, merit scholarships were distributed to meritorious students from nearby schools. The programme also recognised employees for their exemplary contributions at the workplace through BUH Meritorious Awards.
Several other awards were presented during the celebrations, including Health Champion Awards, Medha Pratiyogita Awards, recognition for associate workers, and Best Cultural Performance Awards. The awards were presented by distinguished guests in recognition of outstanding performance and contribution.
Earlier in the morning, Smt Vibha Agrawal, President, Sagarika Ladies Club, hoisted the National Flag at the Ladies Club premises. At the EDC, Shri Praveer Kumar, GM (Project), hoisted the Tricolour, marking the beginning of the Independence Day observances at the respective premises.
