SECL Director (Technical) Operations N. Franklin Jayakumar visited Sohagpur Area to review mining operations, safety standards, production performance and preparedness for upcoming challenges.
During his visit on May 14, Shri Jayakumar inspected Rajendra Underground Mine and reviewed the production and productivity status at the mine face.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in mining operations. Special focus was laid on contractor workers’ safety and welfare, coal extraction practices in underground mines, and strict adherence to electrical safety measures.
He also visited Navgaon Closed Mine and reviewed the progress of mine closure activities, stressing the need for systematic and environmentally responsible closure management.
Later, Shri Jayakumar visited Amlai OCM, where he reviewed the mine’s production and productivity performance and discussed strategies for achieving the annual production target efficiently while ensuring safety and operational excellence.
In the late evening, Shri Jayakumar chaired a comprehensive review meeting with Heads of Departments, Sub Area Managers and Engineers of Sohagpur Area. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of achieving production targets without compromising on safety and quality standards. He also reviewed the preparedness of the Area for the upcoming monsoon season and directed officials to ensure all preventive and safety measures are in place.
During the review meeting, Shri Jayakumar also reviewed the status of Environmental Clearance (EC) and Forest Clearance (FC) compliances and instructed officials to ensure timely compliance of all statutory and environmental requirements.
During the visit, Shri B.K. Jena, AGM, Sohagpur Area, Shri Abhijeet Bhattacharya, GM(M)/TS to DT(O), Shri Srikant Das, GM (E&M)/HoD, Shri Manish Srivastava, GM (Operations), along with other senior officers, accompanied Shri Jayakumar throughout the visit.
