In a significant step towards strengthening public healthcare delivery in Chhattisgarh, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ashray Foundation for the implementation of Project SHWAS – AI-Enabled Mobile Medical Units for TB & Pulmonary Care in Korba district.

The MoU was signed on 02 February 2026 at SECL Headquarters under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, with a total financial assistance of ₹4.99 crore. The agreement was formalised in the presence of Shri Biranchi Das, Director (HR), SECL. Shri C.M. Verma, General Manager (CSR), SECL and Mr. Nalin Johari, Executive Director, Ashray Foundation exchanged the MoU in the presence of senior officials from the SECL CSR Department.

Project SHWAS will be the first initiative of its kind in Chhattisgarh, deploying AI-enabled mobile medical units to provide doorstep screening, early detection and seamless treatment linkage for Tuberculosis (TB) and other pulmonary diseases. The project will deliver preventive, promotive and outpatient curative healthcare services, particularly benefiting project-affected and underserved communities.

Key interventions under the project include Pre-TB symptomatic treatment and primary care support, treatment adherence and follow-up, TB patient care and hygiene kits, monthly nutritional and wellness support kits, along with mental health counselling services for enrolled patients.

Through this initiative, SECL reiterates its commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure and enabling safe, clean and technology-driven healthcare solutions, contributing meaningfully to improved health outcomes in coalfield regions of Chhattisgarh.
