Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy reviewed the performance of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), at Bhubaneswar.

Minister interacted with MCL’s women rescue team and commended Coal India for its initiatives in promoting Nari Shakti.

During the review meeting, Shri Reddy assessed the performance of Talcher Fertilizers Limited, a joint venture between Coal India, GAIL, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited, and Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited.

He emphasized the importance of coal gasification in strengthening India’s energy security. The Minister also highlighted Coal India’s efforts in spearheading India’s coal gasification journey through the establishment of Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited, a joint venture with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, for the development of a Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate project. He also held an interactive session with various stakeholders on the sidelines of the review meeting.

Shri Reddy also met Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, and discussed various issues related to coal mining and the development of the sector in the state.

Additional Secretary,Ministry of Coal Sanoj Kumar Jha, Chairman B. Sairam, MCL CMD  Uday Anant Kaole and senior executives of MCL were present on the occasion.

It is noteworthy that Mahanadi Coalfields Limited has set a production target of 220 MT and a supply target of 233 MT for FY 2026–27.
