After the successful completion of capital repair, Steam Turbo Blower–1 installed at the Power & Blowing Station (PBS) of Bhilai Steel Plant has been recommissioned. This turbo blower supplies cold blast air to the plant’s largest blast furnace, “Mahamaya”, which is crucial for the smooth and continuous operation of the blast furnace. The capital repair of this turbo blower was carried out by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
It is noteworthy that the Mahamaya Blast Furnace was installed under the 7.5 Million Ton Expansion Project, with a production capacity of approximately 8000 tons per day. In addition, a total of three turbo blowers are installed at the Power & Blowing Station, each capable of delivering a flow of 2,19,000 Nm³ per hour.
Prior to the recommissioning of the steam turbo blower, a traditional prayer ceremony was performed and a coconut was broken to mark the auspicious start of the machine and wish for its successful operation.
On this occasion, Executive Director (Works) Mr. Rakesh Kumar graced the event as the Chief Guest. CGM In-charge M&U Mr. B. K. Behera, CGM Electrical Mr. T. K. Krishna Kumar, and CGM BF Mr. Manoj Kumar were present as Guests of Honour.
The program was also attended by GM Safety Mr. Sanjay Agrawal, GM Instrumentation Ms. Madhu Pillai, GM G. K. Kundu, A.M denny from PSD dept GM R. R. Thakur, GM Bency George, along with Deputy General Manager and ED (Works) Secretariat Mr. V. P. Tiwari.
From the PBS Department, GM In-charge Sheikh Zakir, GM G. P. Kurre, Mr. Sanjay Agrawal, Syed Asad Hussain, Mushtaq Ahmad Parrey, along with Mr. Prashant Gupta and Mr. Rahul Chaure from BHEL, and several other officers and employees were also present on the occasion.
While appreciating the dedicated efforts of the PBS team, Executive Director (Works) Mr. Rakesh Kumar congratulated them and assured continued support in the future. He stated that the successful capital repair and recommissioning of Steam Turbo Blower–1 will further strengthen the operation of Blast Furnace “Mahamaya” and contribute significantly towards achieving the plant’s production targets.
