Eastern Coalfields Limited gave away fifty sewing machines as to enable women from economically backward classes to become self reliant. The sewing machines were given to underprivileged women from Kajora, Panveswar, Kenda, Mugma, Sonepur Bazari, Jhanjra, Kunustoria, Kajora, Satgram areas of ECL by Officers Wives Society, ECL – Dishergarh Trishakti Mahila Mandal. This initiative also intends to help them make masks to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The humble sewing machine, with its subtle contribution in making reusable masks for the masses, has returned as a hero and a symbol of self reliance once again.
