Naveen Jindal-owned Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has emerged as the highest Goods and Services Tax (GST) payer in the category of private sector in Chhattisgarh.
The company said in a statement that such a historic moment came rarely in one’s life when it was Independence Day, there was an opportunity to take a pledge to build the nation by hoisting the Tricolor and at the same time being declared the biggest taxpayer.
This coincidence has happened on the 75th Independence Day of the country with Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL), a company headed by Naveen Jindal.
Principal Commissioner of CGST B B Mohapatra felicitated JSPL-Chhattisgarh by declaring it the largest private sector GST payer in the state yesterday. With this, JSPL-Chhattisgarh has also become the second largest GST payer in the state after SAIL-Bhilai.
The award was received by the company’s Chhattisgarh-COO Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, who congratulated Chairman Naveen Jindal and the entire JSPL family for this achievement.
On this occasion, the President of JSPL, Raipur, Pradeep Tandon and the Finance Head, Raigarh, Vikas Kumar were also present.
Saraogi said on this occasion that JSPL-Chhattisgarh, dedicated to the service to the nation, paid about Rs 5400 crore as GST from June 2017 to June 2021. “We are encouraged by the decision of the Government to honor JSPL-Chhattisgarh on the occasion of 75th Independence Day of the country for company’s prompt and dedicated contribution in tax payment and compliance with tax rules,” he added.
He said that Chairman Naveen Jindal and Managing Director V R Sharma’s constant guidance and vision always motivates us to adhere to the norms set by the government. It is the leadership of Naveen Jindal that no GST related legal dispute of JSPL-Chhattisgarh is in any court of law and we are following tax rules with utmost integrity and honesty.
The felicitation ceremony was held at GST Commissionerate, Raipur in which GST Bar Association, CA Institute Branch Head, members of URLA Association and Chairman, C.I.I. And members of FICCI as well as many high officials of GST Department were present. Saraogi and Tandon have congratulated everyone on this achievement.
