NTPC Mining Limited today marked a significant milestone with the formal inauguration of the Pakri Barwadih North West (PB-NW) Coal Mining Project by Shri Naveen Jain, Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining), in the presence of Shri Subrat Kumar Dash, Head of Project, Pakri Barwadih & PB-NW.
The inaugural ceremony began with a traditional puja, followed by the symbolic breaking of a coconut (nariyal) and the flagging off of the first Overburden (OB) truck, signifying the commencement of operations.
The occasion witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Heads of Projects of NTPC’s other coal mining projects — Chatti Bariatu, Kerandari, and Badam — along with senior officials, employees, and a large gathering of local villagers who came to witness the historic moment.
The Pakri Barwadih North West Project holds mineable reserves of 138.96 Million Tonnes, with a planned production capacity of 3 Million Tonnes per annum, ensuring an operational life of 52 years. This project will play a pivotal role in supporting NTPC’s long-term fuel security and energy sustainability goals.
NTPC Mining remains committed to sustainable mining practices, community engagement, and safety excellence, with PB-NW expected to further strengthen the organization’s coal production capability while creating positive socio-economic impact in the region.
