A new Backhoe Loader was inaugurated at Traffic & Raw Materials Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 22nd December 2023, by Kaushika Sunyani, GM (T&RM). Present on the occasion were R.C.Behera, GM (T&RM), Prashant Tripathi, GM (T&RM) and V.K.Raul,GM, FM (M) and other Senior Officers and employees of the FM(M) and Traffic and Raw Material Department.
It may be noted that Backhoe Loaders are integral part of an industry used for augmenting housekeeping activities such as removal of over burdens/spillage materials from the track sides, removal of muck/debris from work sites, making pathways, making track formations, cleaning track side drains throughout the yards and rendering great support in track maintenance/ track replacement activities like sleeper changing/rail changing/packing/track aligning/ballast spreading etc.
In view of the above and to ease out the maintenance process the TRM department has procured one Backhoe Loader with Excavator Bucket Capacity of 0.25 CU.M (Min.) and Loader Bucket Capacity of 1.0 CU.M(Min.) at a cost of around Rs. 29 lakhs. This equipment will help in movement of heavy items, reduce time, ensure accuracy and safety.
