Korba, 22 August, 2023 : NTPC Korba organised a ‘Voter Awareness Program’ as per the oral order received by the District Election Officer Korba. The program was conducted at NTPC Korba’s plant premises and all the employees, CISF personnel, contractors, and contract workers of NTPC Korba were invited and the program showed high participation of the invitees.
Shri Vishwadeep, IAS, Zila Panchayat Korba and Smt Seema Patre, Deputy District Election Officer, Korba were the chief guests of the event. Prabhat Ram, AGM (HR) welcomed Vishwadeep, IAS, Zila Panchayat Korba and Sumit Raibagkar, DGM (HR) welcomed Smt Seema Patre, Deputy District Election Officer, Korba.
The Voter Awareness Program conducted at NTPC Korba was a part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since 2009, it has been working towards preparing India’s electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.
The programme at Korba focussed on educating the participants who are the citizens, electors and voters about the electoral process to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral processes.
Following the footprints of SVEEP, the program’s primary goal was to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make informed decisions during the elections. The programme was based on multiple general as well as targeted interventions which are designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.
Furthermore, a pledge was taken by the mass and a lot of queries were also raised by the participants which were happily answered and resolved by the Zila Panchayat, Korba and, Deputy District Election Officer, Korba.
Another camp is also said to be conducted at NTPC Korba for further awareness and to help eligible citizens to become voters.
Only Greater Participation can lead to a Stronger Democracy.
