Korba, 28th August : An accident took place a week ago at the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Korba plant. A contract worker died in this, but the management suppressed the matter.
NTPC’s 2600 MW capacity plant is in operation in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. According to the information received by industrialpunch.com, on August 22, 2025, crane installation work was going on in the CW Stage II of the plant. It has been told that the contract for this work has been given to Reva Industries. During the work, a contract worker named Krish fell down from a height hitting iron railings etc. Krish was seriously injured in this accident.
It has been told that Krish’s age was between 18 to 19 years. In an injured state, Krish was taken to the departmental hospital of NTPC, Korba. In view of his serious condition, he was referred to the famous New Korba Hospital of the city, where he died during treatment.
It is said that the deceased contract worker was a resident of Haryana. The body was sent to Haryana from the hospital itself. According to sources, this accident happened due to negligence in safety. There is a doubt about whether the deceased was wearing a safety belt, helmet or not.
NTPC management suppressed the matter
NTPC, Korba management tried to suppress the incident that happened on August 22, 2025. The media was not allowed to know about it. The police has probably established a case in the case, but information about whether an FIR has been registered or not could not be found.
Accident happened due to negligence: Assistant Director
Industrial Health and Safety Department Assistant Director Vijay Potai, while discussing with industrialpunch.com in this context, said that the incident is of August 22, 2025. Prima facie negligence has come to the fore in the investigation, due to which the contract worker died after falling from a height. Vijay Potai said that the investigation is still going on.
NTPC management did not give an official statement
An email was sent to the project head of NTPC, Korba and a message was sent to the PRO on WhatsApp to clarify the information and get an official statement regarding the incident, but even after 24 hours, no official statement was given. Finally the news was published.
