Rajmahal. IndustrialPunch : Coal India Limited Chairman Shri B. Sairam reviewed mining operations, project performance and operational challenges during his visit to Eastern Coalfields Limited’s Rajmahal Area on 13 September 2026.
The review meeting was attended by Shri Satish Jha, CMD, ECL; Shri Chitranjan Kumar, Director (Technical/Operations), ECL; Shri A. N. Nayak, Area General Manager, Rajmahal Area; and other senior officials.
Focus on Production, Efficiency and Safety
During the meeting, senior officials discussed key operational matters, project performance and field-level challenges in the Rajmahal Area. The discussions focused on improving operational efficiency, enhancing productivity and ensuring sustained coal production.
Chairman B. Sairam emphasised that operational improvement must go hand in hand with the highest priority to mine safety. The meeting also reviewed measures to address field-level challenges and strengthen the overall performance of mining operations.
Emphasis on Safe and Sustainable Mining
The review also covered safe and sustainable mining practices. Officials discussed actionable measures for improving mining operations, strengthening safety systems and ensuring long-term productivity.
The visit assumes significance amid the need to maintain steady coal production and strengthen operational preparedness across Coal India’s subsidiary companies. CIL Chairman B. Sairam has previously reviewed mining performance, coal evacuation, logistics and project-related challenges across different coal-producing subsidiaries.
The Rajmahal Area review is expected to help ECL identify operational bottlenecks and accelerate corrective measures for improved production, productivity and safety performance.
