Singrauli । IndustrialPunch : NTPC Limited has invited bids for the retrofitting of 400kV circuit breakers at the Stage-3 switchyard of its Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station in Madhya Pradesh. The scope of work includes design, supply, installation, retrofitting and commissioning of the circuit breakers.
The tender, issued on October 31, 2026, carries the reference number NTPC/USSC-CPG1/9900336168 and has been floated under the ADDCAP category.
Comprehensive Scope of Work
According to the tender, the selected contractor will be responsible for the complete execution of the work, covering the design and supply of equipment, installation, integration with the existing electrical system, retrofitting and commissioning.
The project is aimed at upgrading the 400kV switchyard infrastructure at Vindhyachal Stage-3. The switchyard plays a critical role in evacuating electricity generated by the power station and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of high-voltage electrical systems.
Role of 400kV Circuit Breakers
400kV circuit breakers are essential safety components in high-voltage transmission networks. They interrupt electrical current under specified fault conditions, such as short circuits, helping protect transformers, busbars, transmission lines and other critical electrical equipment.
Retrofitting involves upgrading or modifying existing equipment and associated systems to meet operational and technical requirements. The work is therefore significant for maintaining the safety and reliability of the plant’s high-voltage infrastructure.
