In a significant stride towards strengthening its infrastructure and optimizing material transportation capabilities, Traffic & Raw Material (T&RM) department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) inducted two BOXNHS wagons on 9th October, 2023. The wagons were inaugurated by Mr. M.N.V.S Prabhakar, CGM (Services) and Mr. Hiralal Mohapatra GM In-Charge, (T&RM), in the presence of other senior officials from RSP.
These newly inaugurated wagons will be used for transportation of various materials, including -30mm Limestone, as well as essential commodities such as PCI coal, hard coke, sinter, and more. This development will significantly contribute to meeting the demands of customer departments like Raw Material Handling Plant (RMHP), Sinter Plant (SP), Blast Furnace (BF), and others.
Each of these advanced BOXNHS wagons comes at a cost of Rs. 36.28 lakhs, underlining SAIL RSP’s unwavering commitment to quality and efficiency.
It is noteworthy that RSP is having a fleet of 484 internal Rolling Stock for transportation of finished, semi-finished, by-products and raw materials. These wagons are being maintained by Carriage & Wagon Shop of T&RM department. Out of these 484 wagons, there are 54 nos. of BOXN/BOXNHS wagons.
With these new wagons, SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant continues to set new benchmarks in the steel industry, further solidifying its position as a leader in innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
