WCL Strengthens Industrial Security with Trained Personnel and Modern Technology

Nagpur, 31 August, 2026: The Convocation Ceremony and Passing Out Parade were successfully conducted today at the Security Training Centre of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Indora, Nagpur.

Nagpur Police Commissioner Shri Vishwas Nangre Patil, IPS, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event witnessed an impressive display of discipline, dedication and commitment to duty by the officers and departmental security personnel from all the subsidiaries of Coal India Limited who successfully completed their training.

The Chief Guest inspected the parade and appreciated the high standards of discipline and professional competence demonstrated by the trainees. Addressing the gathering, Police Commissioner Shri Vishwas Nangre Patil said that industrial security is an important pillar of the nation’s economic and energy security. He emphasised that the role of security personnel in the coal sector is extremely important and that they must discharge their responsibilities with vigilance, integrity, discipline and the effective use of modern technology. He extended his best wishes to the trained security personnel for a bright and successful future.

On the occasion, Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, WCL, in his address said that trained and skilled security personnel play a vital role in ensuring the security of industrial establishments. He said that WCL is making continuous efforts to further strengthen its security systems through the use of modern technology, enhanced vigilance and regular training. He congratulated all the officers and security personnel who successfully completed their training and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, alertness and a strong sense of responsibility.

During the ceremony, trainee security personnel who excelled in their training were felicitated with certificates of merit and awards in recognition of their outstanding performance.

The ceremony was attended by Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance/HR); Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre; Lieutenant Commander (Dr.) Vikrant Malhan, Head of Security Department (Security); senior officers, employees and instructors & trainees of the Security Training Centre.

Police Commissioner Visits SHASTrA: Following the ceremony, Police Commissioner Shri Vishwas Nangre Patil also visited SHASTrA (Smart and Modern Arms Training/Firing Simulation Facility) established at the Security Training Centre, Indora. He was briefed about the technology-enabled modern training system and appreciated its utility in enhancing the skills and operational preparedness of security personnel.
