On 14 April 2026, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was paid heartfelt tributes at Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) on his birth anniversary. At a function organized at the company headquarters, Director (Finance) Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Director Technical (Planning & Projects) Shri Sandeep S Paranjpe and Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre offered floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and paid their respects.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Director (HR) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande spoke in detail about the life and thoughts of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. He highlighted that the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution continue to play a vital role in the nation’s development. Reflecting on Dr. Ambedkar’s life, he noted that Babasaheb’s ideas remain highly relevant and meaningful even in today’s rapidly changing environment.

During the programme, Liaison Officer of the SC/ST/OBC Cell, Atul Bansod, presented a brief account of Babasaheb’s life. Employees offered Buddha Vandana on the occasion.

The programme witnessed presence of General Managers, Heads of Departments, officers and employees, who paid floral tributes and expressed their deep respect for Babasaheb. Similar tribute programmes were also organized across all areas, units and establishments of WCL.
