He assumed charge of the position on September 6, 2026. The appointment has brought an experienced energy-sector professional to the top leadership of the company.
More Than Three Decades of Energy Sector Experience
B.H. Vasudev Prasad brings more than 36 years of professional experience in the crude oil refining and hydrocarbon industry. His career spans key areas including projects, corporate strategy, marketing, human resources, maintenance, design and engineering, project execution, business operations and corporate governance.
Before joining OPaL, Prasad served as Executive Director (Projects) at Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL). During his tenure, he also handled strategic responsibilities in areas such as projects, corporate strategy and marketing.
Strong Technical and Management Background
Prasad is a Mechanical Engineering graduate and holds an M.Tech in Engineering Management. His extensive experience includes leadership of large-scale projects and operations in the refining and hydrocarbon sector.
His background in project execution, strategic planning and organisational leadership is expected to support OPaL’s ongoing operations and future growth initiatives.
Leadership at ONGC Group’s Major Petrochemical Company
OPaL is a major integrated petrochemical company promoted by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and operates its petrochemical complex at Dahej, Gujarat.
With Prasad taking charge as Managing Director, the company is expected to leverage his experience in large-scale industrial projects, refining, corporate strategy and business operations as it continues to strengthen its position in India’s petrochemical sector.
OPaL’s official investor disclosures also list a September 6, 2026 intimation regarding the change in Managing Director, confirming the leadership transition.
Career at MRPL
Prasad joined MRPL in 1993 and went on to hold several leadership positions across Projects, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Strategy and other functions. He superannuated from MRPL as Executive Director (Projects) on May 31, 2026.
His professional journey includes involvement in major growth and infrastructure initiatives, including refinery expansion and upgradation, project execution and development of strategic infrastructure.
