Shri Chaudhari Shivraj Singh assumes charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL), a Mini Ratna Category-I company (a subsidiary of Coal India Limited).

Prior to this, Shri Singh has worked as OSD to CMD, CMPDI and in various capacities in Coal India Limited (CIL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). A distinguished mining professional with 35 years of exemplary service in the coal sector. Shri Singh brings extensive expertise in project management, opencast mine planning and operations, organizational business plans and enterprise risk management.
Shri Singh holds a B.Tech. degree in Mining Engineering from IIT (BHU), Varanasi in 1990 and began his career with NCL in the same year.
Shri Singh has 17 years of experience in the Coalfields and 18 years of experience in Corporate planning, including roles in mega opencast mines and the Corporate Planning Department of NCL. At CIL, he served as Chief Risk Officer and Head of Corporate Planning Division.
His notable achievements include spearheading the Master Plan for Singrauli Coalfield, establishing planning-execution linkages that propelled NCL beyond 100 MTPA coal production and delivering CIL Vision 2047 and Long Term Plan 2035.
He has gained global exposure through visits to USA, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia for executive education and Advance management exposure, Uzbekistan and Australia for executive education and business development.
His executive education includes an International Executive Diploma in Project Management from the School of Business, George Washington University, USA; Project Appraisal & Risk Management Certification from Duke Center for International Development, Duke University, USA; Advance Management Certificate in Sustainability from ESCP, Paris, France; Advance Management Certificate in Industry 4.0 from Maribor University, Slovenia and Project & Infrastructure Financing Certificate from IIM Bangalore.
