A three-day Inter-Company Cultural Meet Competition was organised at the WCL Headquarters from 15 to 17 January 2026. Teams from all subsidiary companies of Coal India Limited, along with SCCL, participated in the competition, with a total of 10 teams taking part.
The event featured competitions in 28 diverse disciplines, including bhajan, Indian folk songs, banjo, mouth organ, ghazal, light song, comedy skit, orchestra, khayal, dhrupad, thumri, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, synthesizer, guitar, trumpet, tabla, flute, Indian classical dance, folk dance, and qawwali. Altogether, 330 employees participated in these cultural events.
The grand valedictory and prize distribution ceremony was held on the final day, 17 January 2026, at the Cultural Hall of WCL Headquarters. The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of WCL, Shri J. P. Dwivedi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Distinguished guests included Director Technical (Operations/ Project & Planning) Shri Anandji Prasad; Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande; Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre; and members of the WCL Steering Committee—Shri Shiv Kumar Yadav, Shri Deepu Pillai, and Shri S. R. Gabale.
Addressing the gathering, CMD Shri J. P. Dwivedi remarked that art is a powerful medium for expressing human emotions. Extending his best wishes to all the participants, he encouraged them to continue nurturing their artistic talents alongside their professional responsibilities.
During the valedictory function, Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande congratulated all the winners and motivated them to strive for even greater excellence in the future.
A total of 155 participants were felicitated during the competition. In the Inter-Company Cultural Meet Competition 2025–26, the WCL Headquarters team emerged as the overall winner, while the team from Northern Coalfields Limited secured the runner-up position.
The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of members of the WCL Operating Committee and Welfare Board, representatives of trade unions, General Managers and Heads of Departments from Headquarters, along with employees in large numbers.
