Bilaspur : An Interactive session on Preventive Vigilance was organized at SECL Headquarters on 16 May in which about 50 young officers of Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager level working at the Headquarters had a direct dialogue with SECL Chief Vigilance Officer Pranab Kumar Patel. In this dialogue session organized under the joint aegis of Coal India Limited and SECL Vigilance Department, SECL General Manager (Vigilance) Prakash Chandra, Coal India Limited, N.K. Sahu Chief Manager (Mining/Vigilance) and Smt. Usha Basumatari Manager (MM/Vigilance) along with officers of SECL Headquarters Vigilance Department were present.

The interactive session started with the introduction of the participants followed by SECL CVO P.K. Patel underlining the theme and organization of the program. Shri Patel said that all the young officers present here should keep updating themselves with the SOP/Manual/Circular, guidelines issued by the Vigilance Department related to their field of work. He said that accountability is very important in government service, and we must keep in mind that what we are doing should be regular and logical. While giving tips related to work behaviour to the young officers, he said that self-evident points should be included in the proposal made for office work, as well as, if necessary, they should keep their opinion/comments by mentioning the decision- making factors.

General Manager (Vigilance) Prakash Chandra informed about the event and said that we are happy that this very useful session is being organized for the young officers under the leadership of Coal India and under the guidance of CVO SECL. These officers are still young and with proper guidance, they will definitely be able to perform better by being more aware and advanced with knowledge related to the field.

The participants participated in the interactive session with great enthusiasm and expressed their views freely. Officers of Material Management, Medical, Contract Management, Finance Department put questions related to tendering process, GeM Portal etc., which were resolved on the table. Young officers from various departments including System, HR, Finance, Planning- Project, CMC, CSR, Mining, E&M, Marketing and Sales were present in the dialogue session.
