CERC Delegation Visits NTPC Mining Limited’s Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project

A high-level delegation from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), comprising Member (Technical) Shri Ramesh Babu V., Member (Law) Shri Harish Dudani, Member (Finance) Shri Ravinder Singh Dhillon, Chief (Finance) Shri Rajeev Pushkarna, Joint Chief (Law) Shri T.D. Pant, and Assistant Chief (Engineering) Shri Subhashis Das, visited NTPC Mining Limited’s (NML) Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project (PB-CMP) over a two-day programme.

Upon their arrival at the site, the dignitaries were warmly welcomed by senior officials of NML Coal Mining Projects, Hazaribagh.

The visit commenced with the inauguration of the newly constructed Bachelor Hostel-01 for employees of Coal Mining Projects, Hazaribagh. After the inauguration, a soulful Ghazal Sandhya was organized at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Recreational Centre, Sikri Campus, in honour of the visiting dignitaries.

The second day began with a visit to the Mine View Point of PB-CMP, where senior officials briefed the delegation on operational challenges, safety protocols, and innovative practices being implemented to enhance worker safety and sustainability at PB-CMP.

This was followed by a physical inspection of Section 2, Phase 2 of the mine. The delegation also interacted with women dumper operators who are operating 100-ton dumpers, setting an inspiring example of inclusion and empowerment in a male-dominated sector. The officials lauded their dedication and courage.

The delegation then proceeded to the Banadag Railway Siding, where they were given a detailed walkthrough of the Rapid Loading System (RLS) operations and other logistical mechanisms supporting coal evacuation. The team also physically inspected the RLS operations to gain first-hand experience of the site’s efficiency.

During the final leg of the visit, the dignitaries returned to the Sikri Site Campus. As part of NTPC’s ongoing green initiative, the delegates actively participated in a tree plantation drive, underscoring the organization’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability. The visit concluded with a comprehensive review meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Sikri Site Office.

Among those present were Shri Shivam Srivastava, Director (Fuel), NTPC Ltd., along with other senior NTPC officials, including Shri Ajay Dua, Executive Director (Commercial) CC & RED Southern Region; Shri Naveen Jain, Regional Executive Director, Mining; and senior representatives from CMHQ. Also present were Shri Subrat Kumar Dash, Head of Project, Pakri Barwadih, and other senior project officials.
