New Delhi. National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will start commercial operation of its second unit of Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station in Sundargarh district of Odisha from September 1.
“In line with the Corporate Disclosure requirements, we wish to inform that Unit-2 of 800 MW capacity of Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station, Stage-I (2 x 800 MW) is declared on commercial operation w.e.f 00:00 Hrs of 01.09.2021,” NTPC said in a regulatory filing today.
With this, the commercial capacity of NTPC and NTPC Group will become 53,225 mega-watt (MW) and 66,650 MW respectively. Country’s largest power producer has 47 Stations (23 Coal based stations, 7 gas based stations, 1 Hydro station, 1 small hydro, 14 Solar PV and 1 Wind based Station) and 26 Joint Venture stations (9 coal based, 4 gas based, 8 hydro, 1 small hydro 2 Wind and 2 Solar PV)
The first unit of the 1600 Mw Darlipali Super Power Station was commissioned in December 2019. The plant is a pit-head station, and the coal is being fed from captive mine of NTPC (Dulanga).
The State of Odisha is entitled to 50 per cent power from both units of Darlipali. The remaining 50 per cent is sold to five states Bihar, Jharkahnd, West Bengal and Sikkim.
